WHO WE ARE

At Caring Hearts & Hands of Columbia, we provide more than just end-of-life care — we offer love, dignity, and peace during life’s most tender moments. Founded by experienced nurses Dorreen Rardin and Jackie Reed, our mission is to lift the weight off families’ shoulders during a difficult time.

Each day, our dedicated team of staff and volunteers fills our home with warmth, ensuring that every resident is treated with the same love and care we’d give our own family. We honor every individual’s personal, cultural, and spiritual values, and we are deeply committed to ensuring that no one dies alone.

WHAT WE DO

We provide a compassionate, home-like environment where guests and their families receive 24-hour support in partnership with local hospice providers. Our care meets physical, emotional, and spiritual needs with respect and grace. All of this is offered completely free of charge, regardless of insurance or income.

From preparing favorite meals to thoughtful gestures, our team goes beyond traditional care to nurture both guests and their families during this challenging time.

WHY ITS IMPORTANT

End-of-life care can be overwhelming and isolating for families. By providing a supportive, holistic approach, we ensure that families are not alone and that guests experience comfort, dignity, and peace in their final days.

Your donation helps us sustain this model of care, allowing families to focus on love and connection rather than the logistical and financial burdens of end-of-life care.

OUR IMPACT

The Potts family experienced firsthand the difference our care can make. When David Potts needed end-of-life care, a nursing home did not feel right for him. At CHHC, he and his family discovered a compassionate environment that prioritized both physical and emotional needs. Over his 11-day stay, David received attentive care, and his wife and sons were able to be with him every step of the way. Small gestures, thoughtful cards, and personal touches brought comfort and joy during a difficult time.

Moved by their experience, the Potts family chose to give back so other families could benefit from the same compassionate care. Their story highlights the importance of a home-like, holistic approach that nurtures both the guest and the family.
