More Than a Shelter

At the Central Missouri Humane Society, we take pride in the numerous resources available to our community.

🐾 We are Boone County's only open-door shelter, accepting and caring for any homeless pet, no matter their health, age, breed, or temperament

✔️ We have maintained an over 95% live release rate for the past 5 years

🩺 We provide community access to low-cost veterinary care and TNVR services

🐶 We partner with local Animal Control, ensuring the best care for all lost pets

🍗 We have a Pet Food Bank that has already distributed over 26,000 pounds of pet food to families in need this year

Our Give Them Love Campaign

Our Capital Campaign aims to build a better future for the animals and people in Boone County. Through this campaign, we will be able to build a new state-of-the-art Animal Care & Adoption Center. This center will include resources such as: 

❤️ Increased capacity to help more animals in need

❤️ A fully equipped veterinary suite to enhance our partnership with the MU College of Veterinary Medicine's Shelter Medicine Program

❤️ A conference room for educational programs, training sessions, behavior classes, and community outreach

❤️ Separate entrances for stray intake, owner surrenders, adoptions, and veterinary services, which will improve organization and reduce stress

❤️ Properly designed isolation areas, a dedicated adoption space, and a specialized canine parvovirus suite.

❤️ And plenty more resources, all aimed at enhancing spaces for animals and people
