Help keep COMO Trail Association and our Columbia, MO area natural surface trails thriving!

🌄Who We Are

COMO Trail Association (COMOTA) is a 100% volunteer led and run organization; all donations go directly to funding equipment and volunteers (fuel, equipment, food, insurance and other administrative fees) to support trail maintenance efforts.

Our Mission: To build, maintain, and advocate for sustainable natural surface trails for our community.

Our Vision: COMOTA envisions the Columbia area connected by natural surface trails – where a sustainable network brings people outdoors, fosters connection, and inspires long-term stewardship.

Recent donations have supported a trailer to haul and store tools, multiple hand trail tools and weed trimmers. We simply could not operate without the generous donors and volunteers of our community. Every hour of work, every dollar in donations makes all the difference.

🙌What We Do - Our Partnerships and Impact

COMOTA partners with a variety of public land managers throughout the Columbia area to maintain and enhance natural surface trails including Columbia Parks and Rec, Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri State Parks, U.S. Forest Service and Greenbelt Land Trust.  These collaborations ensure that trails are accessible and enjoyable for all types of users, including hikers, trail runners, mountain bikers, and equestrians.

2025 Volunteer Contributions

In 2025, our dedicated volunteers contributed nearly 1,900 hours to our local parks. Their efforts were spread across 62 different work events, demonstrating a strong commitment to the ongoing care and improvement of our trail network.

    • Columbia Parks and Recreation: 660 volunteer hours
    • Missouri State Parks: 350 volunteer hours
    • Mark Twain National Forest: 296 volunteer hours
    • Missouri Department of Conservation: 30 volunteer hours
    • Greenbelt Land Trust: 28 volunteer hours

Through these partnerships and volunteer work, COMOTA continues to support a thriving and sustainable trail system for the entire community.

💥Why It Matters

Trail maintenance isn’t glamorous – but it’s essential. Your donation helps us keep Columbia area trails safe, sustainable and accessible to all users. Every year, land management agencies are relying more and more on local groups to maintain and keep our trails open. COMOTA works to fill the gaps in parks staffing and maintains nearly 100 miles of local natural surface trails, a system that continues to grow with user demand.

😎 Your donation is as critical as every hour of volunteer time on the trails. We recognize not everyone can support COMOTA through physical labor or availability, but our donors are just as important to carrying out our mission and vision for a community with thriving, sustainable trails.

Give today to support the ongoing care of Columbia area trails. We can't maintain them without you!
