Serving Those Who Serve Boone County

Our Mission

First Responder Support exists to promote goodwill between first responders and the community, raise awareness of the unique challenges they face, and provide meaningful relief and support to those who serve Boone County. Our efforts focus on firefighters, EMTs, emergency telecommunications professionals, and law enforcement officers working throughout Boone County and its municipalities.

How We Help

Building Community Connections

We create opportunities for first responders to engage directly with the people they serve — from toy drives and Shop with a Hero events to community first aid classes and public awareness clinics. These programs help foster trust, understanding, and appreciation between first responders and the community.

Raising Awareness

Through informational videos, social media campaigns, and community discussions, we highlight the realities of first responder life — the stress, sacrifices, and courage that come with the job. By sharing their stories, we help our community better understand and support those on the front lines.

Providing Relief

When first responders or their families face hardship, we’re there to help. Our assistance programs provide financial support for those experiencing loss, as well as access to treatment and wellness resources for mental health, substance abuse, and recovery needs.

Offering Ongoing Support

We invest in the long-term resilience of our first responders by sponsoring professional development, supporting attendance at training conferences, and developing crisis-response programs designed to address the challenges of critical incidents

Your Support Makes a Real Difference

Because of generous donors like you — and with the continued support of one of our key sponsors — First Responder Support (FRS) continues to make a powerful impact right here in Boone County:

  • 35 families were given the chance to enjoy a joyful holiday through our Wal-Mart Shop With A HERO Christmas shopping spree, where local public safety officials helped ensure every child had a memorable Christmas.

  • Over 20 public safety professionals received vital help through our Resilience Program, nearly double last year’s number — and we’re now averaging three new applicants each month seeking assistance.

  • Through our Resilience Scholarship Program, each eligible first responder can receive up to $2,500 per year in financial assistance — helping ensure little to no out-of-pocket costs for treatment, counseling, or wellness support.

We’re deeply grateful for every donor who makes our mission possible. Together, we’re bringing relief, hope, and resilience to the first responders who keep Boone County safe.
