Support Camp Takimina This Giving Season

The Giving Season is here, and as you decide where to make your impact, we invite you to consider a tax-deductible gift to Camp Takimina, proudly owned and operated by Friends of Takimina, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Through the CoMoGives Campaign, we’ll be sharing stories from our rich 60-year history — from cherished camp traditions to the tales behind our beloved locations. As you journey down memory lane with us, if you find yourself smiling or feeling that spark of connection, know that your donation helps keep these experiences alive for generations to come.

Our Mission

Friends of Takimina teaches and shares the love of the outdoors through conservation education, skill building, and self-reliance within our community.

About Camp Takimina

Nestled on 30 acres of forest in Boone County, Camp Takimina offers space for camping, hiking, educational field trips, and community events.

Each year, hundreds of children and families explore, learn, and grow in our woods. Your support helps us preserve this beautiful sanctuary and continue welcoming all who seek peace, adventure, and connection with nature.

Our Story

Founded in 1960 as part of the Camp Fire organization, Camp Takimina was entrusted to Friends of Takimina in 2015 after the local council’s closure. Since then, our all-volunteer board and advisors have dedicated themselves to protecting the land and its legacy.

Through partnerships with Southern Boone Area YMCA (Camp Mudd), City Garden School, scout troops, churches, and former campers, we continue to foster outdoor learning and community connection.
