Pets bring so much comfort, joy, and unconditional love—yet too many pet owners face heartbreaking obstacles in meeting even their pets' basic needs. Area shelters fill, rescues stretch themselves thin, pets are abandoned, and far too many animals face preventable suffering.
But every single day, because of people like you, we are changing that story.
What We DO
Our mission is simple: Provide a humane, affordable and accessible solution to reduce pet overpopulation and improve the lives of companion animals in our community. We provide spay/neuter services, essential vaccines, and basic wellness care at prices pet owners can afford. Every surgery we perform keeps pets with their families, prevents unwanted litters, and gives rescues, shelters, and TNR programs the resources and capacity to focus on the animals who need them most. By removing financial barriers to essential veterinary care, The Spay Neuter Project stops suffering before it starts—and saves lives.

A Decade of Compassion in Action
The Spay Neuter Project began more than a decade ago when a small group of animal-loving women saw a critical gap in our community and stepped forward to create a solution. What started as a grassroots vision quickly became a reality—made possible only through the generosity and commitment of our community.
Centrally located at Providence and the Business Loop in Columbia, and fueled by your support, our small but mighty Veterinary Team has performed 35,000+ spay/neuter surgeries, administered 60,000+ lifesaving vaccines, and provided compassionate care to 45,000+ animals.
Today, in partnership with 20+ rescues and TNR groups, your continued support strengthens the entire animal welfare network across Mid-Missouri and neighboring communities.
These milestones reflect far more than numbers—they represent healthier pets, supported families, and a community where every animal matters.
