ORR STREET STUDIOS & GALLERY

Orr Street Studios & Gallery is a dynamic community gathering place for artists and the entire community!  

Your contribution allows us to provide many free, inclusive events every month, for all ages, fostering a vibrant artistic community for Columbia and the surrounding area.

 In 2006 a dilapidated warehouse, a covered shipping dock, a concrete block storage shed, and a shabby old house were transformed into a beautiful and welcoming art space. With its’ unique artistic, sculptured studio doors, it helped start and is now an anchor to North Village Arts District. 

Orr Street Studios & Gallery provides affordable studio space for 25 artists to create art and to interact with the community, as well as a warm and welcoming, inclusive space for Columbia and the surrounding community. We have countless free events, exhibits, and programs including First Fridays Openings - featuring local musicians, free art classes for kids and adults, free monthly gallery talks featuring local and regional artists and writers, free mini-art exhibits by area schools, free tours & more.  

We also provide free space and collaborate with many other local community non-profit and local organizations, including the Columbia Public Library providing space for it’s art classes and it’s One Read Exhibit, space for the True/False Festival, the Unbound Book Festival, MU Journalism School Photo Exhibit, Junior Achievement Santa Photos and much more.  Our changing and diverse monthly art exhibits give artists from the community an opportunity to show their art and the community an opportunity to see diverse art, including our yearly Pride Exhibit, Black History Exhibit and Fashion Show, Members Show and much more. 

By donating to Orr Street Studios & Gallery, you keep our “doors open to the community”  so you and the rest of our community can participate in creative and engaging art experiences and ensure that we can continue to serve as an art hub for Columbia, Mo and the surrounding areas.

 Artists Studio rent only pays for a small part of the cost of running Orr Street Studios & Gallery, only our monthly rent payments for the building and heating and cooling. We rely on your generous donations and grants to pay for everything else needed to run Orr Street Studios and keep our free programs going!
