Sponsor a Toy for a Rescue Cat
Hi I’m Christina and I’m making cat toys for shelter pets. This year we are not allowed to sell goods to donors but we can make gifts for the rescues! So I am making catnip kickers and crinkle fish cat toys to donate to the cats in our care at the adoption center and Bertha’s Beans Cat Cafe! If you would like to help me provide these sweet souls with catnip fun, please consider sponsoring few toys. Each donation will ensure one cat gets a catnip kicker or a crinkle fish toy (also loaded with catnip!)
Ideal donations: $5 for a kicker, $10 for a giant crinkle fish. $15 ensures they get both!
Why is Second Chance important to me?
I fostered for them for a few years, a number of dogs, puppies and the occasional litter of kittens. After moving to a new neighborhood, I realized it was overfilled with community cats. I’ve trapped a few in the past but this was way more than I had seen. Getting to work, I found that I quite liked TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return). Within a year, I had trapped over 75 cats/kittens within 2 blocks of me and helped a few others. Second Chance took notice and offered to let me start a TNR program with their rescue… So I did! I found all my passions being filled on this new journey. I started volunteering more at the clinic, cat intake, helping with photo shoots, and still fostering but mainly kittens now. (Ironic since I was very much a dog only person before minus the occasional kittens I found here or there). I also got more into medical fosters as cats and kittens found outdoors tend to be in rough shape, and I loved it. Watching them heal, come back to life or knowing I at least gave them a chance sparked a new light in me. I found so much joy in what I have been able to do. With someone who suffers from severe mental illness, this was the best thing ever for me as my depression melted away. The more I kept busy, the better I felt, and my passion turned into purpose. I found friends, support systems and so much more within this rescue.
Trever. Found underweight, sick and with burned paw pads from walking on extremely hot asphalt while crying for help. Now healthy and adopted!
Azari was found by kids while lying in the middle of the street, unable to move, underweight, sick and dirty. I later found two of his siblings not as sick but still in need of help. I trapped and socialized them and got the rest of the colony TNR’d. Now all the kittens are healthy and adopted!
By supporting Second Chance, you also support me and my TNR efforts. It also allows me to continue helping the cats and kittens who need it most from TNR to prevent more from suffering outdoors and to medical fosters who need more critical care.
Thank you for your support! The kitties will thank you too.
