Community Engagement Programs

At MRBO, advocacy begins with community. Our mission isn’t just to speak for birds — it’s to help Missourians find and raise their own voices for conservation. Across the state, MRBO brings people together to learn, share, and act on behalf of the natural world. Through workshops, presentations, and direct outreach, we’re equipping citizens with the knowledge and confidence to engage in civic life — to contact legislators, participate in public comment processes, and bring science-based awareness into local decision-making.

In 2025, this work reached new heights. From rural towns to city centers, Missourians joined us in conversations about clean water, public lands, and habitat protection. People who once felt powerless in the face of political complexity are now writing letters, testifying in hearings, and connecting with their neighbors around shared environmental values. MRBO’s strength lies in this growing network of engaged citizens — people who understand that lasting change starts at the community level.
